Curriculum

In accordance with state statute, the Navarro College Board of Trustees is responsible for approving the number and types of degrees offered; a core curriculum compliant with Texas Education Code (TEC), Section 51.315 (SB 37-89(R)) for undergraduate degrees; curriculum changes; the number and nature of departments, divisions, schools or colleges through which the curriculum is administered; and the extent to which the College offers on and off-campus programs throughout the service area in accordance with state statute.

Texas Common Course Numbering System

Navarro College shall utilize the Texas Common Course Numbering System for course identification.

Learning Outcomes

Each Navarro College course shall have measurable learning outcomes to describe the knowledge and skills a student is expected to acquire upon successful completion of the course. All learning outcomes will align with the Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs) or Program Learning Outcomes (PLOs) as outlined in the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board's published Academic Course Guide Manual (ACGM), Workforce Education Course Manual (WECM), or Upper Division Course Manual (UDCM).

Curriculum Review and Evaluation

In accordance with state statute, the Navarro College Board of Trustees will:

  • review and approve or deny any proposed curriculum changes (TEC, Section 51.354),

  • review, evaluate, and approve or deny the College's core curriculum once every 5 years, beginning in 2026 (TEC, Section 51.315), and

  • review, evaluate, and approve or deny minor degree and certificate programs once every 5 years, beginning in 2026 (TEC Section 51.989).
