Cap & Gown

Academic regalia (caps and gowns) are worn by all members of the College community who participate in the commencement ceremony. The student's academic gown is the basic commencement garment in red. Navarro College provides one set of a cap, gown and tassel to each graduate participating in the commencement ceremonies at no cost.

The Registrar will contact all graduates by email to provide information in regards to cap and gown pick up.

Graduation Caps

Navarro College graduation caps may not be decorated (with personal decor) during ceremonies.  If you have any questions about graduation caps, contact the Registrar or call (903) 875-7348.

Graduation Cords and Medals

Those graduates receiving honors and member recognitions have special tassels, stoles, or cords from the organization's coordinator. Only approved cords and medallions as recognized by the Registrar will be allowed during the commencement ceremonies.

Students who graduate with a GPA of a 3.50 or above on all work attempted at Navarro College and other post-secondary institutions with no grade lower than a C will be given honor medallions when they arrive to check in.

NOTICE FOR MEMBERS OF THE FOLLOWING ORGANIZATIONS IN OBTAINING SPECIAL TASSELS, STOLES OR CORDS FROM THE ORGANIZATION'S COORDINATOR.

Military Cords

Students who are veterans will need to speak to the Financial Aid Success Coach/VA Certification Official about receiving military cords in advance of graduation day.

Military Cord in red, white, and blue and matching tassels at both ends.

Honors Stoles

Students in honors will need to speak with their advisors in advance of graduation day about receiving stoles. Only an approved Phi Theta Kappa (PTK) Honors Stole can be worn for PTK (academic), PTK-National Junior College Athletic Association (athletics), PTK-Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM), and PTK-Nursing.

Significance of Honors Stoles

Phi Theta Kappa Honors Stole

PTK Stoles: PTK  Stoles are academic regalia worn by members of Phi Theta Kappa, an international honor society for two-year colleges. These stoles are typically worn during graduation ceremonies to signify the academic achievements and membership in the honor society.

Athletics Honors Stole

PTK with National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA): PTK with NJCAA signifies a collaboration or affiliation between Phi Theta Kappa and NJCAA. This collaboration could involve initiatives aimed at supporting student-athletes academically, promoting leadership and service, or other joint programs benefiting students at two-year colleges.

STEM Honors Stole

A PTK Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) stole is academic attire worn by Phi Theta Kappa members who excel in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics.

Nursing Honors Stole

A PTK Nursing stole is an academic regalia worn by members of Phi Theta Kappa who are also pursuing a nursing degree or have demonstrated excellence in nursing studies. It symbolizes their achievements in both academics and nursing and is typically worn during graduation ceremonies to honor their dedication and commitment to both fields.
