CORSICANA, TX – Navarro College Welding, Cosmetology, and John Deere Tech students competed at the SkillsUSA – Texas State Championship in Corpus Christi. A total of 21 students entered work and showcased their skills in various competitions, including Power Equipment, Diesel Equipment, Cosmetology, Nailcare, Esthetics, and Welding Sculpture categories. Clayton Hendrix of John Deere and Regina Crowley were gold medalists in Diesel Equipment and Esthetics, respectively. Competitors also included six silver and three bronze medalists.
The SkillsUSA Championships program “assesses and recognizes career and technical education students by testing their skills… the [program] connects work done by students at the local level to the national level through programming offered at the district, regional, and state levels.” The SkillsUSA National Leadership and Skills Conference will take place in Atlanta, Georgia on June of this year. Gold medalists Clayton Hendrix (Diesel Equipment) and Regina Crowley (Esthetics) will be competing at the national championship. Navarro College is a three-time state championship winner in Diesel Equipment Technology and back-to-back state champions in Esthetics.
