Navarro College Protective Services to Conduct Semi-Annual Mass Casualty Incident
Drill on May 5, 2023
Posted on March 08, 2023
Navarro College's Fire Academy and EMS programs will partner this Spring 2023 semester to conduct the College's semi-annual Mass Casualty Incident (MCI) drill. The exercise will take place on Friday, May 5, from 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. on the College's Waxahachie Campus in the area of Building D, followed by a recruiting fair for Fire and EMS departments to speak with the College graduates from 1:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m..
The mock disaster will simulate scenarios such as those most likely to be seen by our students upon graduation such as vehicle incidents, tornados, fires, and gas leaks. In order to prevent confusion between a mock drill and a real situation among College students, staff and visitors on campus, notices have gone out across the college and signs indicating the training drill is taking place in the area. The Fire and EMS departments request that spectators maintain a safe distance, but are welcome to observe.
For the students and communities benefit, this event involves coordination between the College and multiple external public safety and health agencies within Navarro College's service area. During the drill, these agencies also have the opportunity to be on campus to participate with the Navarro College Fire and EMS students, which provides them additional training and increases their preparation of mass casualty incidents. If you are a public safety or health agency interested in participating in this event, please complete the MCI and Job Fair Registration Form.
