The Navarro College Board of Trustees posthumously bestowed Homer Gene Wasson the title of Navarro College Trustee Chairman Emeritus, during its monthly board meeting held Aug. 29.

Wasson served on the Navarro College Board of Trustees for 30 years from 1979 until 2009 and served as Chairman of the Board of Trustees for 16 of those years from 1993 until 2009.

Wasson attended Navarro College as a student athlete from 1948 until 1951, graduated May 31, 1951, and was a member of the Navarro College Barracks Bunch.

His dedication and passion for Navarro College was unwavering and unmatched and his legacy as a student, trustee and community member embodied all that Navarro College represents.

“Homer Gene Wasson was a mentor and leader for so many exciting years at Navarro College,” said Phil Judson, Navarro College Board of Trustee Chairman. “We honor his leadership by awarding Navarro College’s highest honor of emeritus status.”
