Posted on September 11, 2025
Navarro College is deeply saddened by the passing of Mrs. Sue Cook, the inaugural honoree of the Gallery of Distinction.
The Cook family has been an integral part of the Bulldog family for decades, giving generously of their time, talents, and hearts. Alongside her late husband, Leland, and together with their son Byron and his wife Kay, Mrs. Cook played a vital role in bringing the Cook Education Center to life; a lasting legacy that continues to serve students, faculty, and the community.
Mrs. Cook’s dedication to Navarro College extended far beyond this achievement. She faithfully served on the Navarro College Foundation Board for 11 years, contributed her energy and passion as a key member of the Dancing for Our Stars committee, and was a steadfast advocate for the College’s eSports program.
From the very first time I met Sue after becoming President until the time I last saw her a few months ago, she remained deeply focused on Navarro College; especially our students, faculty, and staff,” said Dr. Kevin G. Fegan, District President. “She was the heart of her family’s involvement, and we will miss her leadership, her warmth, and her unwavering advocacy.”
Navarro College honors the life and legacy of Mrs. Sue Cook with gratitude for her extraordinary service and with heartfelt sympathy to the Cook family and her many friends.
