The Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) recently affirmed accreditation for Navarro College’s Bachelor of Science in Nursing Program in the Health Professions department.
"We are honored to receive initial accreditation from the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN). This achievement highlights our commitment to excellence in nursing education and reinforces our mission to prepare highly skilled and compassionate nurses who will excel as leaders in the nursing profession, said BSN Program Director Julie Arteaga, EdD, MSN, RN, CNE
ACEN is “the leading authority for nursing education accreditation,” according to its website, and sets the benchmark for nursing education excellence both nationally and internationally.
ACEN Board of Commissioners granted accreditation upon meeting in September 2024 following a review process that began when Navarro College launched its program in 2023. The effective date for Navarro College’s initial accreditation is June 8, 2023, when the program first gained ACEN Candidacy.
Navarro College’s Bachelor of Science in Nursing Program (BSN) began in Fall 2023 and graduated their first students in August 2024.
Guy Featherston, Executive Dean of Health Professions said that “This external validation from our national accreditation organization reinforces what we already knew at Navarro College: We have outstanding faculty, a proven track record of graduating quality Registered Nurses, and all the resources necessary to grow this program to meet our community stakeholders needs for professional nurses.”
“Our mission at Navarro College is to provide educational opportunities that empower students to achieve their personal, academic and career goals and that promote life-long learning within the communities we serve. This accreditation strengthens our ability to expand the BSN program to additional locations in the future,” said District President, Kevin G. Fegan.
The Health Professions department at Navarro College offers certificates and degrees in Licensed Vocational Nursing (LVN), Medical Lab Technology (MLT), Advanced Degree Nursing (AND – RN) and Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN). To find out more go to NavarroCollege.edu and click on Degrees.
