- Velazquez named Navarro College Head Cheer Coach

CORSICANA, Texas -- Navarro College has officially named Dustin Velazquez as its new Head Cheer Coach. Velazquez has served as the interim coach since Monica Aldama retired at the end of the 2023 fall semester. He had been on staff as Assistant Cheer Coach since Fall 2021and he is a former Navarro College Cheerleader. In April of 2024, he led the program to its second consecutive NCA Game Day National Championship in Daytona.
“Dustin stepped into a role this past spring that had unbelievable expectations and handled himself well throughout it all. Our athletes responded to his leadership and continued our tradition of excellence. Dustin understands the importance of our cheer program and will work tirelessly to put his mark on the program in the best possible way” said Michael Landers, Executive Director for Student Services and Athletics at Navarro.
He is no stranger to winning as he has four national championships as a collegiate athlete, a world championship with the United States National Team and four titles coaching at Navarro. Velazquez takes over a Navarro Cheer program that boasts18 NCA national titles and 6 NCA grand championships. In addition, he will lead the creation of the NJCAA All-Girl team set to debut in Fall 2024.
Velazquez has a degree in Humanities with minors in business administration and marketing from Morehead State University.
He and his wife, Shannon, have two children and are expecting their third later this year, and are actively involved in the Corsicana community.
