Nancy Chaney is a Corsicana local and a 2000 graduate of Navarro College, where she received her Associate of Applied Science in Paralegal Studies and an Associate of Science degree in General Studies. Years later, she made the decision to go back to school through Navarro College’s partner university, East Texas A&M University, and graduated with a Bachelor of Applied Science in Criminal Justice. Nancy is not only a proud alumna of Navarro College, but she impacts the lives of students daily in her role as District Coordinator of Tutoring Services and Student Support Programming at the College.
During her tenure of nearly two decades, Nancy also accepted the position of Adjunct Professor of Paralegal Studies. Nancy has a demonstrated passion for Navarro College, her family, and the students, coworkers, and colleagues who have become family. Nancy recalls her journey through Navarro College, as a student and now an employee:
“I was a first-generation student and was all on my own getting my education. Navarro College made me feel that I was not alone and provided all the help and resources that I needed to succeed and graduate. The professors encouraged and gave one on one attention and assistance. Every staff member and professor were helpful and provided encouragement at all times It was my inspiration because of the desire to work here and become a part of the Navarro College family. I would not be here today if it weren’t for my Navarro family. I owe it all to them.”
Nancy is just another testament to the success that is achievable with higher education, including the professors, support staff, and resources that make achieving dreams like a college degree possible. In her free time, Nancy enjoys spending time with her husband, Richard, and their son, Connor.
