Kevin Strength '87, Named 2021 Distinguished Alumni Award Recipient

Kevin Strength attended evening courses at Navarro College while working as a firefighter for Waxahachie Fire Department. Mr. Strength graduated from Waxahachie High School in 1981 and continued to work for a local appliance store, C.A. Wilson, where he had worked since age 14. In 1986 he attened Texas A&M Fire Academy and was hired by Waxahachie Fire Department in 1987, where he worked until 1993. Mr. Strength then worked in a variety of fields including medical billing, computer networking and building homes.
In 2010 he was elected to Waxahachie City Council and in 2014 he was appointed Mayor and served for 5 years. During his 10 years on City Council he was a tremendous advocate for Navarro College and helped foster growth between the College and Baylor Scott & White hospital.
About the Distinguished Alumni Award
The Distinguished Alumni Award is the highest honor that Navarro College bestows upon an outstanding alum. The award acknowledges and recognizes the outstanding accomplishments and exemplarily achievements of Navarro College alumni whose personal lives, professional achievements, and community service exemplify the objectives of their alma mater. The award recipients are chosen by the Distinguished Alumni Award Selection Committee consisting of members of the Navarro College Foundation Board of Directors, two Navarro College employees (active or retired) and the Executive Director of the Foundation.
