Sadberry graduated with honors from North Shore High School in Houston in 1968.
 - 
                        
                        
He enrolled in Navarro College where he served as president of the Student Government Association and was a national officer in Phi Theta Kappa.
 - 
                        
                        
Graduated with honors from Navarro College in 1970.
 - 
                        
                        
Received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education at UT-Austin, graduating with honors and served as President of the Student Body Association.
 - 
                        
                        
Sadberry attended Georgetown University Law Center in Washington D.C. receiving his Juris Doctor degree in 1975.
 - 
                        
                        
He worked as an Assistant Attorney General with the Office of the Attorney General of Texas.
 - 
                        
                        
He worked in private practice in several firms and in 1993 was appointed by Governor Ann Richards to serve as one of the three members of the Texas Lottery Commission.
 - 
                        
                        
In 2006, he was named Executive Director of the Texas Lottery where he served until his death.
