Grady Donald Rains, a businessman and rancher graduated from Stark High School in Orange, Texas and attended Navarro College for a year before earning a degree from Texas State University.

He served three years in the U.S. Marine Corp.

Rains owned and operated his own insurance agency and was a member of the San Marcos Rotary Club, San Marcos Chamber of Commerce and the Texas and Southwestern Cattle Raisers Association.

Rains was the Texas State Representative for District 45 and served on various committee including the High Education, Financial Institution, Appropriations, Elections etc.
