Navarro College offers students the opportunity to become acquainted with Navarro College and the "college experience" through two types of orientation programs. Students that are pursuing a degree from Navarro are required to take one of the following courses/options. Orientation is required for all freshman students.
Summer Freshman Orientation 1100 Session Education & Career Planning (Two-Day Course)
• Get complete advising requirements and save time by registering early for the fall semester. • Stay overnight on campus and discover what college life is like. • Discuss education and career plans with a counselor. • Get an edge on new friendships and become familiar with campus before fall classes begin.
Optional parent activities are planned during the first day of Summer Orientation. Activities include sessions regarding financial aid, an overview of the college, being a college freshman parent and meeting with college administrators.
A $40.00 fee covers the cost of one overnight stay, three meals on campus (Dinner, Breakfast & Lunch), and materials. The cost is the same for those who choose NOT to stay or eat on campus during the session. (NOTE: Does NOT cover the cost of tuition and fees for ORIN 1100).
One semester hour for tuition and fees will be charged to the student upon registering for the fall. (NOTE: Does not include the $40.00 fee.)
Submit an application for Summer Freshman Orientation and a check or money order for the $40.00 fee. Submit admissions application and official transcripts from high school or previous college/s attended, or a copy of completed GED. (Note: Acceptance to Navarro College is conditional until all requirements for admission are satisfied.) Complete the THEA test or other approved alternative test and submit scores to Registrar in the Office of Admissions. For more information or to determine if exempt from THEA, or to set up a testing date, contact the Testing Center on campus at (903) 875-7457. (Note: A student's score on THEA is NOT used as an admission requirement, but simply used for placement.) Bring your own sheets, blankets, towels, pillows, alarm clock and toiletries for the overnight stay.
For more information on orientation dates, or to request a Summer Orientation Application, please contact the Student Relations office at (903) 875-7334 or toll free at 1-800-NAVARRO.
